Good morning everyone! I hope your day is turning out to be incredible. If not, do something to help make it incredible.![]()
I’m excited because tonight is our first SOCIAL SOIREE on the Monterey Peninsula. If you are a wedding professional on the Monterey Peninsula (or are passionate about what you do in servicing the area), the invitation is still open. Over 140 people have rsvp’d for tonight’s event! This is something that has been on my mind for quite some time, something like 1 1/2 years. I’ve been traveling for a lot of my weddings, but really wanted to start investing in the local community where I live. (Having another baby on the way definitely helps put this in perspective as well!). So about 6 weeks ago I teamed up with my friend Anthony from Dna Entertainment to help organize a social gathering for the wedding professionals that both live and work on the Peninsula and in Carmel Valley. It’s sort of funny really, when you think about it: A bunch of us are so close yet so “far away”. We’ve maybe worked a wedding together but might not really know each other. My thought is, wouldn’t it be better to actually work with friends? We’re all in the same industry, and it’s an awesome industry indeed. We are busy running around helping to make the dreams come true of each bride & groom, and what an honor that is. But if we could take it to the next level and invest in each other as well as our clients, the community that is built would be a strong and thriving community! We need each other, especially in these economic times. For me personally, my business is based entirely on the “word of mouth” referral basis, and I’m sure many can agree that theirs is too…at least in some part. (If you’re a past or potential client reading this, you probably know what I’m talking about as you’ve more than likely experienced it! You’re getting an inside pass to a little behind the scenes
). Anyway, the point is this: If we as professionals build a strong community in our local industry, not only do WE benefit from the fantastic relationships but our CLIENTS benefit even more! The end result is that our clients have an incredible “once in a lifetime” experience here on the Peninsula, their memories are beautiful, and we get the privilege in helping their dreams become a reality…All the while we are building a quality of life for ourselves that is blessed because we get to do what we love and have fun doing it with “friends”. I don’t know about you, but how cool is that?!
Alas, a picture of the invite to leave with you…designed by the fabulous Laura Schmiess (lauraschmiess@yahoo.com):

The plan is to have a Social Soiree on a quarterly basis to foster our relationships. I’m also stoked about doing a vendor showcase once or twice a year. As you can imagine, it takes a little work to put together, so if you are a local vendor and want to host one at your venue, I’d invite you to contact me (above) and let’s chat! I believe there is incredible value in community and look forward to talking with you. We need each other, so together, let’s stir the pot a little and rock the Monterey Peninsula and Carmel Valley!
